Privacy policy

Our Approach

Weather awareness without accounts or tracking.

WXDesk does not require an account and does not include advertising, third-party analytics, or cross-app tracking. NKY Developers LLC does not operate a WXDesk server that stores your location or weather activity.

Location information

With your permission, WXDesk uses your device location to show local forecasts, radar, aviation conditions, NWS alerts, and SPC outlooks. Optional Always Location access uses Apple’s low-power significant-location-change service so background alert checks can follow major travel. You can use saved cities without granting location access, and permissions can be changed in iOS Settings.

Weather data providers

Coordinates or selected-place coordinates are sent as needed to Apple Weather, Open-Meteo, NOAA services including the National Weather Service, Storm Prediction Center and AviationWeather.gov, and RainViewer. Those services receive the network information normally included with an internet request and may retain request logs, including coordinates, under their own terms and privacy practices. WXDesk does not send your name, contacts, weather log notes, or a user account identifier to these providers, and does not use this information for tracking.

Information stored on your device

Favorite cities, alert choices, display preferences, weather-log entries, and recent weather snapshots are stored locally on your device. A shared Apple App Group lets the WXDesk app and its widgets exchange a small forecast snapshot. Removing the app normally removes this local information.

Notifications and background activity

WXDesk can schedule local notifications for weather alerts, SPC outlooks, and likely near-term rain. Background refresh and location wakes are controlled by iOS and are not guaranteed to run immediately. WXDesk is a situational-awareness tool, not an emergency warning service; keep official Wireless Emergency Alerts enabled.

On-device weather guide

On supported Apple Intelligence devices, Guide can use Apple’s on-device language model to discuss the weather data already available in WXDesk. Other devices use a deterministic local response system. Guide conversations are not sent to an NKY Developers server. The normal weather-provider requests described above still occur.

Children, changes, and contact

WXDesk is a general-audience weather utility and is not designed to collect personal information from children. This policy may be updated as the app changes; the latest effective date will appear at the top of this page. Questions or deletion requests can be sent to [email protected].
